Outside the M25, it takes a city to raise a star.
Over 6 months Loyle Carner, a team of industry experts and diverse creatives mentored a group of 13 young musicians in all elements of being an artist in today’s world. They created and collaborated on original material for their debut festival performance at Sound City, the UK’s leading independent music festival, which took place 3rd- 5th May.
The Documentary:
The documentary tells the full story of how the project unfolded as they prepared for their supporting headline slot as Sound City, and how one of the biggest and critically acclaimed artists mentored and inspired 13 young musicians.
The Zine:
Music is more than a recording. It’s a visual medium of image, design and video. Levi’s sparked a community-wide collaboration with this zine, which gave 13 young artists, one photographer, six designers, and one visual artist, all from Liverpool, an opportunity to shape their future through music.
The zine followed the creative journey of portraits becoming artwork pieces and then transforming into live visuals, all made by creatives from the local community. A story of collaboration that gave a platform to Liverpool’s creative youth (including a cracking interview with Sturridge).
